The Concept Of Die Casting

Dec 04, 2024

‌Die casting (pressure casting) is a metal casting process characterized by applying high pressure to the molten metal through the inner cavity of the mold, so that the liquid or semi-liquid metal fills the mold cavity at high speed, and is formed and solidified under pressure to obtain a casting. ‌

Basic principles of die casting
During the die casting process, liquid or semi-liquid metal is injected into the pressure chamber of the die casting machine, and then fills the mold cavity under high pressure and high speed. The metal solidifies in the mold to form a casting. This process is similar to injection molding, but is applicable to metal materials.

Characteristics of die casting
‌High precision‌: Die castings usually have high dimensional accuracy and surface quality, and in many cases can be used directly without further turning.
‌High efficiency‌: The die casting process has high production efficiency, is suitable for large-scale production, can quickly solidify and form, and reduces cutting processing.
‌Material properties‌: Die castings usually have the characteristics of lightness, wear resistance, high mechanical strength, good heat transfer and conductivity, and can withstand high temperatures.
