Die Casting Materials
Dec 05, 2024
Common materials used in die casting mainly include metals such as zinc, aluminum, magnesium, copper and tin and their alloys. Among them, zinc and aluminum alloys are the most widely used, followed by magnesium and copper alloys. These materials have good fluidity and plasticity, and are suitable for pressure casting parts.
Die casting is a metal casting process that uses a mold cavity to apply high pressure to the molten metal. Die castings are usually used to batch manufacture a large number of products and are suitable for the production of small and medium-sized castings. Compared with other casting technologies, the die casting process has higher dimensional consistency and flat surfaces.
In the electronics industry, zinc, aluminum and magnesium alloys are the main die casting materials because they have good electrical properties and lightweight characteristics, and are widely used in the production of electronic product housings and internal structural parts.
